There should only be one slot that it will fit and it should be readily apparent where it goes. It shouldn’t take you 2 minutes to install it.
Here is what you do unplug power cord unplug monitor, open the case look inside and look at the stick of memory you have see where it is in the computer, then depending if it is a dimm or simm chip release the clap at both ends pushing them away from the chip and pivoting down be sure to Ground yourself to the Case to release the static electricity you may have picked up from walking across a rug or holding baby with wool clothing. pull out old chip and look at The copper colored ends match the notches install the new chip in the slot where the old memory came out of, The reason when mixing memory sticks they will sometimes conflict and not work, and most likely the 1 gig chip will be much faster than the old stick so if you use the old memory the computer will automatically clock to the lowest speed. push memory into slot the white ends should pivot up and then push then in to lock against the side of the memory stick, hook up monitor and plug in power bot up and watch as it boots up and see it it rads the memory stick it will read when updating the system, if all goes well your up and running. This is the best way to prevent problems with memory conflicts and that has been a common problem. Hope that helps.
There should be a notch in the memory stick and a notch in the slot it goes in – line these up to make sure it is in right. Then make sure the clamps at the end of the slot are up and holding the memory right.
When this is done and you turn on the pc right click your mouse on My Computer, click properties and you get your system specs – look at the ram and see if it is right amount.
